Louise Marie Crafton

Louise Marie Crafton, 91 of Pinewood-Sour Lake, Texas passed away peacefully in the arms of our Lord on Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2012 at Kountze Nursing Center, Kountze, Texas surrounded by her family and the dedicated staff who loved and cared for her. Louise was born in Evening Shade, Arkansas, April 12, 1921, the oldest of three daughters. She was united in marriage August 5, 1939 at Evening Shade, Arkansas to her husband of 50 years Jewel James (Jimmy) Crafton who preceded her in death December 6, 1988. She and her husband lived in Poughkeepsie for many years where she was active in the Eastern Star and Church of Christ. She and her husband moved to West Memphis, Arkansas where she was active in the West Memphis Church of Christ youth programs and women’s group She and her husband retired to their farm in Strawberry where they lived until his death and she moved to Texas to be close to her two daughters. Louise was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and a caregiver for many relatives, in-laws, and close friends. Her greatest joy was her family. Her grandson and great grandson have fond memories of “Nanny” always making time to play with them. She was a dedicated member of the Strawberry Church of Christ and a 50-year member of the Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Louise is survived by two daughters, Olivia Zinn (Jim), Sharon Hinds (Greg), all of Pinewood-Sour Lake Texas, her grandson David LaFevers, special friend Krysta Brown of Columbia, Mo and great grandson Payton of West Plains, Missouri, Sue Adams (Paul) of Erin, Tennessee and many Crafton nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents James C. and Cora Smith of Poughkeepsie, sister Hazel Jackson and husband Paul of Poughkeepsie, sister Martha Lewis and husband Aubrey of Erin, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at the Strawberry Church of Christ, Sunday May 6 at 2:00pm with burial following at the Ward Cemetery. A long-time friend and minister, Gary Buxton will officiate. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. A gathering of family and friends for visitation will be from 4pm – 6pm, Saturday May 5 at Qualls Funeral Home, Cave City, Arkansas.
