Sam Wesley Kimmer age 82 of Searcy (formerly of Batesville) died Friday September 28, 2007 at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born August 10, 1925 near Cushman, Arkansas to Remmel and Ruby (Fisher) Kimmer. He lived in Searcy for the U.S. Army infantry during WWII from December 1943 until April 1946. He was drafted out of high school in his senior year and spent most of his time in the European Theater in Belgium and Germany. He was in several major batls including the Battle of the Bulge, Rhine River and others where he was wounded and spent time in the hospital in Belgium. He completed his education at Arkansas College (now Lyon College) when he returned from war.He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Bobby Joe Kimmer and Jimmy Ray Kimmer.Survivors include one son David Wesley Kimmer of North Little Rock, one daughter Lola Katherine Davis of Little Rock, two brothers, Rex Kimmer of Mountain Home and BIll Kimmer of Batesville, two sisters, Beatrice Stevens and Joy Kramer both of Batesville, the mother of his children, Betty Baxter Kimmer, two granddaughters Misty Rowland of Mayflower and Amber Dawn Kimmer of North Little Rock, three great grandchildren, Brittany Langley, Colton Rowland and Austin Rowland all of Mayflower, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Graveside services will begin Tuesday October 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Cemetery located near Bethesda with J. B.l Milligan officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Monday October 1, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be George Kimmer, Roy Kimmer, Archie Jones, Rodney Kimmer, Jimmy Baxter and Dwayne Jones.Honorary pallbearers will be George Kimmer, Roy Kimmer, Archie Jones, Rodney Kimmer, Jimmy Baxter and Dwayne Jones.Honorary pallbearers are Nelson Kramer, Charles Howard and Glen Pace.
