Wanda Kay (Pinkston) Smith, age 61 of Sun Rise Beach, Missouri died Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville, Texas. She was born August 22, 1946 at Batesville, Arkansas to John and Elsie (Andrews) Pinkston. She graduated Oklahoma State University in 1969 with a Bachelor's degree in Clothing, Textiles and Merchandising, graduated Purdue University in 1974 and received her Master's in Child Psychology. From 1970 to 1972 she worked in Chicago for Marshal Fields and later taught clothing design and construction at Oklahoma State Uniersity and Perdue. In 1973 she opened her own retail clothing store in Munster, Indiana which led to a second Children's store in 1974. After the sale of her clothing store Kay sold real estate in Indiana and North Carolina. She earned the highest sales nationwide award in 2000 with Horton Homes, which at the time was the 3rd largest home builder in the nation.She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother James Pinkston.Survivors include her husband Don Smith of the home, one son Jeremy Smith of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, one daughter Jessica Smith of Asheville, North Carolina, four brothers Gene Pinkston, Carl Pinkston and Bob Pinkston all of Batesville, Arkansas and Gary Pinkston of Cave City, Arkansas, two sisters Carolyn Presley of Cave City, Arkansas and Betty Castle of Phoenix, Arizona, several nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Friday, February 22, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Tim McKay, Terry Presley, Kirby Pinkston, David Pinkston, Jake Pinkston and Russell McKay.
