Harold Gene King, age 62 of Batesville died Saturday February 23, 2008 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born June 28, 1945 at Batesville, Arkansas to Vernon Paul and Ruth Pearline (James) King. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, a retired auctioneer and a member of the New Faith Gospel Church in Batsville.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Paul Dean King.Survivors include two sons, Christopher Gene King of Little Rock and Jerry Don Smart of Batesville, three daughters, Patty Downs of Batesville, Shana Renea Henson and Teresa Keeling both of Little Rock, three grandchildren, Destiny King of Little Rock, Hunter Beau Smart and Halle Brooke Smart both of Batesville, close friend, Verna Love of Batesville, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Daren Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount View Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Eddie Biggers, Allen King, Paul King, Cody King, Walter Jones and Brent Hendricks.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Douglas Bernard, Dr. Rick VanGrouw, Dr. Robert Walton and Dr. Steve Alexander.The family will be available to receive guests at the Verna Love home at 989 Elsie St. in Batesville.
