Norma Dolores Vincent Wright, 'Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother' age 79, was called home on Sunday April 13, 2008 surrounded by her family.Dolores was preceded in death by her father, Roy H. Langford; mother, Lois Bell Powell Langford; brother, Edward Dalton Langford; her first husband, Richard Gordon 'Rudy' Vincent and triplet boys.She is survived by her loving husband, Paul F. Wright Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Bobby Bickers of Monroe, Georgia and Debbie and Jon Perkins of Columbia, South Carolina; a beloved granddaughter, Norma Ann Perkins of Batesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Charles and Eleanore Langford of Monroe, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Nancy Wright Hutcherson of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and a sister-in-law and nephew, Joyce and Jerry Langford of Memphis, Tennessee.Born in Hickman, Kentucky as Norma Dolores 'Sis' Langford on August 14, 1928. Dolores attended Murray State University where she played basketball, competed in jitterbug contests and thrived academically.After moving to Batesville in the 50's with her husband, Dolores was a dedicated community volunteer and served on many committees, including President of B& PW, the Ladies Golf Association, the White River Boat Club, the White River Water Carnival Committee and numerous bridge clubs.Dolores was appointed the first youth counselor for the City of Batesville where she worked with young people from Junior High through College and young people's departments at churches. The new program was principally in the field of alcohol prevention. Dolores also started the first Alateen meeting in Batesville, which she faithfully held in her home until a building could be provided.Dolores was a vivacious, giving lady who loved life and everyone in it. She especially loved her family, friends, golf, bridge, water skiing, dancing, music and playing the piano.Faith and church were a daily part of her life. Dolores was a long time member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Batesville, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the ladies altar guild and dellightfully performed any and all duties asked of her.An exceptional soul she will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her.Funeral services will begin Thursday April 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Batesville with the Rev. Middleton Wootten officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will be held Wednesday April 16, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Pallbearers will be Bobby Bickers, Jon Perkins, Brad Purdy, Chris Caruthers, Jerry Langford and Tim Dunlap.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or your favorite charity.
