John Noordhoek age 76 of Desha, died Tuesday April 15, 2008 in a Batesville hospital after a long battle with cancer.Born June 4, 1931, in Sandborne, MN, he was the son of Arie Noordhoek and Lena Oldencamp Noordhoek. He served in the armed forces during the Korean War. Throughout his life he had many trades including a mechanic at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, carpenter, farmer, electrician, plumber, welder and a heavy equipment operator for Rick Reed Construction in Batesville. First and foremost he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Batesville Worldwide Church of God. Survivors include his wife,Lila (Hamilton) Noordhoek of the home, four sons and their wives, Jerry and Linda Noordhoek of Texas, Jack and Cynthia Noordhoek of Batesville, Jim and Cindy Noordhoek of Desha, and Jeff and Tamie Noordhoek of Cave City; three daughters, Janet Weber of Iowa, Judy and husband Bill Lebforth of Batesville, and Joan Cross of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a brother Bill Noordhoek and wife Anna, and a sister Tilli Oudekerk and husband Sam all of MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter Shirley Noordhoek; three brothers, Arie Noordhoek Jr., and Garrett Noordhoek both of Minnesota and Lenard Noordhoek from Iowa, two sisters Gertie Ferguson from California and Maggie Dunford from Minnesota.A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 at the Batesville Worldwide Church of God.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Batesville Worldwide Church of God, 59 Allen Chapel Road, Batesville, AR .
