Joel James 'J. J.' Perkey, age 81 of Batesville died Friday, May 2, 2008 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born December 5, 1926 at Cave City, Arkansas to Charlie and Gertie Lassiter Perkey. He was retired from ConAgra Foods of Batesville, a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Verl Perkey.Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Margaret Vest Perkey of the home, one daughter, Wanda Foushee of Belton, Missouri, three brothers Paul Perkey of Hollis, Oklahoma, Von Perkey of Batesville and Billy Perkey of Salem, five sisters, Clois Ray, Tommie Garlin and Jo England all of Batesville, Glenn Davis of Plesant Grove and Kay Milligan of Russellville, two grandsons, Robert Foushee of Independence, Missouri and Mike Foushee of Kansas City, Missouri, two great granddaughters, Danielle Foushee and Raegan Foushee both of Independence, Missouri, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Monday May 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. W. T. Rider officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery located at Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will be Sunday May 4, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Lloyd Rodgers, Roy Provence, Gerald Crawford, Fount Foushee, Robert Foushee and Mike Foushee.Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Foster, Dr. Tom Cummins, Dr. Greg Neaville, James Hughes, George Wright and Dr. Steve Alexander.
