Charles 'Neal' Johnson, age 71 of Batesville died Monday, May 5, 2008 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born November 11, 1936 at Cave City, Arkansas to Edward Daniel and Mattie Alice (Cole) Johnson. He was a U. S. Army veteran, retired district manager for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and a member of the VFW in Batesville. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Batesville.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lula Glenn and Eloise Davila.Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Felts) Johnson of the home, three daughters Tammy Baker of Sherwood, Kim Johnson and Dana Weaver both of Batesville, one brother Paul Wesley Johnson of Cave City, two sisters Betty Laman of Cave City and Eddie Mills of Cicero, Indiana, three grandchildren, Kelsey Weaver of Batesville, Dustin Baker and Cory Baker both of Sherwood, special friend Ona Wyatt of Batesville, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hope Lutheran Church in Batesville with Pastor Joel Krogen officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Dustin Baker, Cory Baker, Chris Laman, O. J. Laman, Blain Roark and Dwain Roark.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church, 2415 East Main St., Batesville, AR 72501.
