Claybourne Ford, age 101 of Batesville died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Rolling Hills Nursing Center in Batesville. He was born September 23, 1906 at St. James, Arkansas to Will and Lizzie Ford. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during World War II, a farmer and a retired furniture salesman having worked for Maxville's Furniture and Sleep Star Lite Mattress and Furniture both in Batesville. He was a member of the West Baptist Church in Batesville where he attended Sunday School for 31 years without missing.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ona Campbell Ford, two brothers Jimmy Ford and Nelse Ford and one sister Susan Ford.Survivors include his wife Ruth Ford of Batesville, one son Clay Ford of Pleasant Plains, one grandson Gary Gleaves of Pleasant Plains, two great granddaughters Sara Westbrook and Amy Lindsey both of Pleasant Plains, one great great grandson Logan Carter Westbrook of Pleasant Plains, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Alan Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will begin Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Oscar Jones, Ricky Westbrook, Rayburn Finley, Dwight Ford, Phillip Lloyd and Matt Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Walton, Dr. Jim Lytle and Bill Payne.
