Val W. Kirby, age 100 of Strawberry died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born September 5,1907 at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Ewing and Alice (Owens)Kirby. He was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Strawberry Churh of Christ. He enjoyed coon hunting and playing pool.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annie (Geib)Kirby, one son, Val Wayne Kirby, five brothers, Oll Kirby, Roy Kirby, John Kirby, Odell Kirby and Carl Kirby, four sisters, Mona Spillers, Charlotte Ernest, Ruby Kirby and Lois Kirby and two great grandsons, Jamie Gray and Abram Kirby.Survivors include one son, Marvin Kirby of Strawberry, three daughters, Louise Gray and Maxine Gray borth of Strawberry and Wilma McGee of Cave City, one sister, Dorothy Warren of Hermitage, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Strawberry Church of Christ located at Strawberry. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangemnts by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Friday, July 4, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
