William E. Cummings

William E. Cummings, age 85 of Batesville died Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Cave City Nursing Home in Cave City. He was born June 24, 1923 at Batesville, Arkansas to James Albert and Cora Letha (Ives) Cummings. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during World War II, retired from Arkansas Power and Light Company and was a member of the Cave Creek Church of God.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Loretta Cummings, his second wife Pauline Cummings and one brother Leo Cummings.Survivors include one daughter Donna Ballard of Batesville, two brothers Alfred Cummings of Ohio and Harold Cummings of Mississippi, two sisters Leona Smith of White Hall and Beulah Fulbright of Ohio, two grandchildren Sherry Jackson of Velvet Ridge and Brian Ballard of Batesville, six great grandchildren Lane Jackson and Chaney Jackson both of Velvet Ridge, Bayley Ballard, Destiny Ballard, Timothy Ballard, Madison Ballard and Cory White all of Batesville. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Caleb Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee's Chapel Cemetery located on Hwy 25 in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Caleb Spinks, Ryan Martin, Charlie Reynolds, Stephen Downs, Jerry Beard and Nick Wallis.Honorary pallbearers are Leon Reynolds, Dr. Tom Cummins, Dr. Homer Brooks and Elwood Jackson.
