Cecil Hennings was born on August 31, 1935 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late, Dorothy Tribbitt McCurn and the late Nathan Hennings. Cecil attended Ethel O. Miller High School where he was a great basketball player and district champion. He graduated in 1954. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He married Eunice Dickerson on October 30, 1958. He worked at Builder's Supply as a salesman, a roofer with Tommy Lewis Roofing Company and retired from Lyon College in 2004 after twenty years of service in the maintenance department. He was of the Baptist belief. Cecil and Eunice had three daughters. He departed this life September 17, 2008 at the White River Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Hennings.Cecil leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Eunice Hennings of the home, three daughters Dorothy Mae Hennings of West Helena, Melinda Hennings and Marilyn Owens both of Batesville, three grandchildren Elizabeth Ashley Weemas, Brandon Owens and Robert Smith, two brothers, Teddy Hennings and wife Jackie of Little Rock, Nolan Hennings and wife Harley of Batesville, two sisters Sandra Brown of Batesville and Mona Hardaway and husband Tommy Lee of Newport, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. L. A. Bland and Bro. Otis Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. A repast will be held directly following the burial at the Bethel A.M.E. Church fellowship Hall located in Batesville, Arkansas.Visitation will begin Friday, September 19, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Floyd Owens, Todd Engles, James Crawford, Andy Montgomery, Arthur Montgomery, Roger Naulls and Don Crawford.Honorary pallbearers are William B. Coop, David Hartwick, Owen Shaw, Genio Carley, Sr., Archie Westmoreland, George Brown, Calvin Long, Benny Dodd and the Maintenance Department of Lyon College.We wish to express our sincere gratitude for every act of kindness and expression of sympathy extended to us during this difficult time.
