Oliver Seat, age 79 of Desha died Friday, January 30, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born March 9, 1929 at Blytheville, Arkansas and was raised in Nelsonville. He was the son of Samuel David and Amelia Ann Swarner Seat. He was a machinist and worked for many years for Cessna, Boeing, Memorex and Aerojet. He was the owner of Strout Realty in Batesville until his retirement in 1979.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James Seat, Ernest Seat and Homer Seat.Survivors include his wife Jean Seat of the home, one son Robert O. Seat of Desha, one brother, Kenneth Seat of Nelsonville, three sisters, Kathryn McCrackin of Pocahontas, Dorthy Mae Gray of Jonesboro and Betty Sue Mueller of San Lorenzo, California, two grandchildren, Angela Sharrow of Rayeford, North Carolina and Rob Seat of Cave City, two great grandchildren, William Sharrow and Elisabeth Sharrow both of Rayeford, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Pat Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderbrook Cemetery located at Desha with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will begin Monday, February 2, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Trent Seat, Duncan Seat, Chris Seat, George Land, Randy Land and Donnie Gilliand.Honorary pallbearer is Steven Land.
