Maxine Vickery Chambers age 87 of Batesville died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born January 3, 1922 at Cushman, Arkansas to George and Frances Tarwater Vickery. She was a Navy wife and lived in Hawaii and the Far East. She worked in a defense plant during WWII. She graduated from Hartnell College in Salinas, California and worked with disabled children. She retired with her husband to Batesville in 1977.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard C. Chambers, one son Curtis Chambers, three brothers and two sisters.Survivors include one son, Alan Chambers of Batesville, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.A memorial service will be held Saturday February 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville.
