Effie L. Smith

Effie L. Smith age 87 of Brookland died Wednesday February 18, 2009 at the St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born June 18, 1921 at Cave City, Arkansas to Clarence and Sarah Goodman Shirley. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Antioch Baptist Church located at Brookland.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lushen L. Smith, one son, Timothy Smith, three brothers, Delmer Shirley, Elmer Shirley and John Shirley and two sisters, Ruby Moody and Ida Mae Medlock.Survivors include two sons, Clarence J. Cooper of Jonesboro and Robert Smith of Leavenworth, Kansas, one brother, Charles Shirley of St. Louis, Missouri, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.A funeral service will be held Friday February 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the New Antioch Baptist Church located at 429 CR 960, Brookland, Ar. with Rev. Larry Ring and Rev. Jim Wells officiating.A funeral service will be held Saturday February 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Harold Russell and Rev. Larry Ring officiating. Burial will follow in the Maxville Cemetery located north of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time.
