Bill Johnston

Bill Johnston, age 72 of Evening Shade died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Cave City Nursing Home. He was born October 16, 1936 in Missouri to Amel and Lucinda Grissom Johnston. He was a United States army veteran having served in the Korean conflict. He enjoyed gardening and wood working. He was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Auther Johnston and a sister, Augusta Watkins.Survivors include his wife, Sue Johnston of the home, two sisters Tilly Gainey of Perry, Florida and Maggie Phipps of Searcy, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Alvin Wiles and Bro. Joe Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery located west of Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Phillip Jackson, Danny Malone, Harold Macklin, Robbie Thomas, Jason Bickford and Brian Sherrod.Honorary pallbearers are Michael Thomas, Melvin Williams and Edward Sherrod.
