Maxine Evelyn Carpenter, age 84 of Ash Flat died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born January 16, 1925 at Lansing, Michigan to Floyd and Marion Norma Bennett Waters. She was a retired Assistant Vice President for First National Banking Company in Ash Flat and a member of the Ash Flat Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Boyd Carpenter and one sister, Margaret Cunningham.Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Lori Carpenter of Ash Flat, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Max Safley of California, Missouri and Louann and Morris Street of Cherokee Village, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd Waters Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana, William and Marilyn Waters of Perry, Michigan and Edward and Shelby Waters of Eagle, Michigan, one sister, Mildred Chepy of Lansing, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ash Flat Church of Christ with Max Safley officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiles Cemetery located in Ash Flat with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Friday, April 10, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Ash Flat Church of Christ.Pallbearers will be Robert Safley, John Safley, David Street, Mart Carpenter, Douglas Bays and Aaron Kamps.
