J.T. Goforth age 81 of Batesville died Sunday May 10, 2009 at his home. He was born November 6, 1927 in Independence County Arkansas to Jesse Albert and Erma Ida (Maley) Goforth. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, receiving the Victory Medal and the Army Occupational Medal-Japan. He was retired from Diemer Trucking in Batesville and inducted into the Mack Million Mile Truck Drivers Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Weavers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Zeda Mae Goforth Wright.Survivors include his wife, Ruby McKay Goforth of the home, two daughters, Deborah Goforth Patterson and husban Dwayne of Batesville and Melisa Goforth Tate and husband Douglas of Batesville, two grandsons, Robert Eugene Patterson of Southside and Travis tate and wife Jennifer of Cave City, one granddaughter, Mandy Tate Gay and husband Jeremy of Batesville and one great grandson, Robert Ethan Patterson of Southside.Funeral services will begin Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Weavers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church located north of Batesville with Larry Pounds and Orville Berg officiating. Eulogy will be given by Ladene bray. Burial with military rites will follow in the Weavers Chapel Cemetery with arrangments by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Tuesday May 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service in Batesville.Pallbearers will be Jimmy Bray, David Diemer, Johnny Brooks, Roger Brown, Roy Goodman, Keith Goforth, Paul Cummings, and Vernon Cummings. Honorary pallbearers are H.C. McKay, Zeb Goforth, donald Diemer, Pat Patterson, Bobby Goforth, Jerry Dunegan, Paul Smith, and all members of the Weavers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Senior Sunday School Class.
