Vernell Black

Vernell Black age 83 of Ash Flat died Saturday July 4, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born September 24, 1925 in Izard County to Parks Harvey and Eliza (McNelley) Lankford. She worked for Boeing Aircraft in Kansas City, Missouri and worked as a waitress in Cherokee Village for several years.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernard Black, one brother, Harvey Lankford and two sisters, Veldia Cowart and Eathel Grimes.Survivors include one sister, Margaret Carter of Brownsville, California, Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Noble Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in the Roberts Cemetery located near Franklin with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Tuesday July 7, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
