James Edward Crawford, age 69 of Batesville died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the Wood-Lawn Nursing Home in Batesville. He was born August 5, 1939 at Batesville, Arkansas to John Fred Wesley and Nellie Marie Lexion Crawford. He retired from General Motors in Detroit, enjoyed driving a taxi-cab after his retirement, fishing and motorcycle riding. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Batesville.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gail Regina Long and Sharon Norman.Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Crawford of Pontiac, Michigan, a son, Dana Tyrone Green of Chicago, Illinois, seven brothers, John Thomas Crawford of Newark, New Jersey, Don Crawford and Marcus Crawford both of Batesville, Barney Crawford of Louisville, Kentucky, Roy Crawford and Troy Crawford both of Dallas, Texas and Scottie Lynn Crawford of Missouri, six sisters, Alice Faye White, Laurine Brown and Katherine Crawford of Batesville, Connie Crawford and Katie Marie Crawford of Dallas, Texas and Nina Mae Barris of St. Louis, Missouri, two grandchildren, two aunts, Nettie Ramsey of Batesville and Geardan Mae Barris of New York City, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Memorial services will begin Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service with Rev.
