Martha Martin, age 91 of Sulphur Rock died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born October 19, 1917 in Independence County to William Melton and Cora Melvina Simpson Kever. She was a homemaker, worked several years for J. K. Southerland Poultry Processing Plant, enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Sharp United Methodist Church near Gainsboro.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gid Martin and four siblings.Survivors include two daughters, Nevada James of Sulphur Rock and Deleca Hix of Batesville, two grandsons, Jake Archer of Sulphur Rock and Chris Archer of Pleasant Plains, four great grandchildren, Kristin Kellar, Daniel Allen, Jason Allen and Emily Archer, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Jim Derrington and Jerry Lumpkin officiating. Burial will follow in the Tunstall Cemetery located east of Sulphur Rock with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Friday, August 14, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Edgar Shields, Keith Limbaugh, Chris Fagan, Chris Bolin, Mike Carter and Chris James.Honorary pallbearers, Matt Manning and Dr. Homer and Kay Brooks.
