Freda Dees Hand, age 94 of Batesville died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Rolling Hills Nursing Center in Southside. She was born June 14, 1915 at Markey Township, Michigan to William and Esther Carrick Van-Y. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Harold Dees and Robert Hand, three brothers, Palmer Van-Y, Joseph Van-Y and Myron David Van-Y and one sister Olive Dennis.Survivors include one son Kenneth Harold Dees of Temple, Texas, one daughter, Jean Miller of Hutchinson Mountain Community, one sister, Leda Marie Woodward of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, five grandchildren, Susan George of Greensboro, North Carolina, Denise Waldrop of Kernersville, North Carolina, Julie Harper of Laplace, Louisiana, Jeffrey Dees of Temple, Texas and Debra Severe of Rolling Rock, Texas, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Graveside services will begin Friday, September 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kyler Cemetery located at Southside with Bro. W. T. Rider officiating.
