William B. Chastain, age 86 of Timbo died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at his home. He was born November 10, 1922 in Osage County, Oklahoma to William and Dessie Chastain. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church near Timbo.Upon graduating from high school in Pawhuska, Oklahoma he enlisted in the Air Force during World War II. After basic training he was assigned as tail gunner on a B24 flying out of England over Germany. After a number of raids his plane was shot down and he was taken prisoner. He and one other comrade survived after parachuting out of the plane. He was held prisoner for ten months after which he was able to escape. He walked in the forest for two days before meeting up with the British and was flown back to England. After his arrival back home, he went to college at USC graduating in 1952. He then moved to Austin, Texas where he taught school after which he started working for the government at the Data Processing Center in Austin. He retired in 1983. He and his wife of 34 years moved to the Ozarks to be near his wife's relatives. Survivors include his wife, Frankie (Morrison) Chastain of the home; three children, Michael Chastain, Stephan Chastain and wife Carey, and Cynthia Wilson all of Austin, Texas, two step-children, Stanley Dashner of the home and Stephen Dashner and wife Melinda of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, grandchildren, Katy, Jacky, Hayley, Ryan and Stephanie all of Austin, Texas, five step-grandchildren, Matthew Dashner of Denver, Colorado, Geoffrey Dashner and Marlow Prather of Austin, Texas, Monique and Natassia Dashner of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and a brother, Ollie B. Chastain of Aubrey, Texas. He is also survived by two nieces in Oklahoma and one nephew William Chastain of Aubrey, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-daughter, Sandra Prather and a brother, Carter Chastain.Funeral services will be held Monday, September 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church located in Timbo with Bro. Danny Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kuykendall Cemetery located on Hwy. 66 West of Oxley with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will begin Monday, September 7, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the Calvary Baptist Church.Pallbearers will be Steve Dashner, Stan Dashner, Luther Morrison, Burtis Morrison, Autry Morrison and Max Morrison.Honorary pallbearers are Mike Chastain and Stephen Chastain.Those who will may contribute to the William B.
