Lou E. Smith, age 75 of Southside died Sunday, September 20, 2009 at the Rolling Hills Nursing Center at Southside. She was born December 2, 1933 at Damascus, Arkansas to Marvin and Alma Lyons Alumbaugh. She was owner-operator of Lou Smith Custom Drapery in Batesville and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Southside.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Paul K. Smith. Survivors include two sons, Todd Smith of Rosie and Mark Smith of Cave City, one daughter, Billi Jo Terry of Town Creek, Alabama, three brothers, Pete Alumbaugh of Paris, Michigan, Jim Alumbaugh and Gene Alumbaugh both of Swartz Creek Michigan, two sisters, Glenna Higdon of Swartz Creek, Michigan and Donna Evans of Rogers, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Southside with Bro. Anthony Howard and Bro. Kenneth Altom officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located near Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will begin Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Ed Ward, Hairl Anderson, Fairl Anderson, Dave Martin, Adam Martin, David Martin, Billy Scroggins and Frank Brewer.
