Helen Gales Turney

Helen Gales Turney, age 82 of Searcy, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at a Little Rock hospital. She was born September 4, 1927 at Bethesda, Arkansas to Lucius and Irene Hamilton Oden. She was a homemaker and a member of the Short Creek Baptist Church in Iuka, Mississippi.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cloy Gales; one son, Jimmy Joe Gales; one daughter, Darline Gales; one brother, James Oden; six sisters, Mary Stevenson, Sara Sherrell, Ida Haggenmaker, Myrtle Easley, Nora Larson and Bertie Fortune and one grandaughter, Maria Gales.Survivors include one son, Danny Gales of Tishomingo, Mississippi; one daughter, Martha Ross of Searcy; one sister, Geneva Nelson of Hesperia, California; eight granchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday October 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. James Taylor and Tracy Rather officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery located near Cushman with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Friday October 16, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Danny Gales, Larry Ross, Danny Gales Jr., Jason Ross, Cody Fugitt and Doug Martin.
