Kenneth D. Smith

Kenneth D. Smith, age 63 of Batesville, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born April 10, 1946 at Heber Springs, Arkansas to Frank and Clydie (Stevens) Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired Batesville Postmaster having served with the postal service for 31 years and a member of the Ruddell Hill Baptist Church. His hobbies included metal detecting, hunting, fishing and flint knapping.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ilene Glenn and Betty Smith and a son, Todd Coffman.Survivors include his wife, Ginger Smith of the home; two sons, Michael David Smith of Batesville and Adam C. Smith of Jonesboro; three daughters, Margie D. Reeves of Cabot, Jennifer Smith and Misty Sparks, both of Batesville; four sisters, Rose Mary Floyd of Batesville, Joyce Smith and Flo McDougal both of Pleasant Plains and Imogene McDougal of Pangburn; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ruddell Hill Baptist Church located at Batesville with Bro. Alan Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.No visitation is planned.Pallbearers will be the Ruddell Hill Baptist Adult Mens I Sunday School Class.Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Walton, Dr. Seth Barnes, Dr. Greg Neaville and the U.S. Postal Service Employees.
