Paul F. Wright Jr., 84, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at his stepdaughter's home after a long fought battle with lung cancer.Born May 22, 1925 in Batesville, Paul was the son of Paul F. Wright Sr, and Margaret Babcock Wright. Paul served in World War II in the navy, was a clothing wholesaler, and was a certified public accountant in Batesville until his retirement. His family owned and operated the Paul Wright's Men Store in Downtown Batesville for many years. Paul was an avid duck hunter, bird watcher, animal lover, and had a passion for cooking, music, and the tasting of fine red wines. Paul was a member of both St. Paul's Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church of Batesville,Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Wright Hutcherson of Cherokee Village; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Debbie and Jon Perkins of Batesville, and Vicky and Bob Bickers of Monroe Georgia; a brother, Alan Wright and wife Joanne of Garland Texas; two nephews, Franklin Wright and family of Seoul Korea, and Steve Wright of Fayetteville Arkansas; a niece, Ann Marie Langholz and family of Dallas Texas; a granddaughter, Norma Ann Perkins of Jupiter Florida and his two best buddies, miniature schnauzers, Roxanne and Beck.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rebecca Turnley Wright and his second wife Dolores Vincent Wright.The funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Drymon officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bob Slaughter of Batesville and Bill Verwolf of Hot Springs.Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Independence County, The Angel Wing Fund c/o Veterinarian Dr. Mark Williams of Batesville, or a charity of your choice.
