Coach Don Fowler of Rosie, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2010 in Batesville at the age of seventh-three. He was born September 1, 1936 at Swifton, Arkansas, the son of Theodore and Prudence Fowler. He married Miss Anita Joan Pierce on September 27, 1959.Don was a former student of Swifton High School. He graduated from Arkansas College where he went on to pursue a career in teaching and coaching for thirty-one years. He had a passion for basketball and a love for working with young people. He was a member of the Oil Trough Church of Christ. The time spent with his family and friends was his most cherished earthly moments. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, visiting with people and going to ball games and church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Prudence Fowler, two brothers, Tommy Fowler and Ted Fowler and five sisters, Peggy Gilliam, Ollie Kelly, Bertha McDuffee, Amy Browning and Elsie Davidson.He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Anita Joan Fowler of Rosie; one son, Russell Fowler and wife Rhonda of Cave City; two daughters, Donnita (Fowler) Welch and husband Bobby of Rosie and Lucretia (Fowler) Robertson and husband Dennis of Cave City; four grandchildren, Robbie Welch, Chris Yach, Jonathan Fowler and Bradley Welch; one great granddaughter, Kambrea Sky Fowler; two sisters, Myrtle Brinkley and Thelma Warrick, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives adn friends.Funeral services will begin Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m at the Oil Trough Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located near Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Wednesday, February 10,2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Pallbearers will be Roger Fisher, Charles Frazier, Bobby Welch, Winfred Pierce, Ricky Roberson and Jonathan Fowler.Honorary pallbearers are All Former Ball Players, Gene Roberson, George Snelgrove, Ronnie Johnson, Stanley Gibson and Members of the Church of Christ.
