Martha Jane Long, age 74 of McHue died Monday, February 8, 2010 at a Little Rock hospital. She was born November 4, 1935 at New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Henry M. and Margaret Mattern Smouse. She was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired from White Rodgers in Batesville. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Southside.She was preceded in death by her parents.Survivors include her husband, Chester Long of the home, two sons, Jeff Long and wife Joyce of McHue, Doug Long and wife Heather of Lewisville, Texas, two daughters, Jane Medlock and husband Robin and Jennifer McBride and husband Billy of McHue, one brother, Robert M. Smouse and wife Connie of Newbern North Carolina, one sister Ruth Penrose of Center Point, Louisiana, six grandchildren, Jennifer Long, Jacob Long, Ethan McBride and Matthew McBride of McHue, Tiffany Medlock of Camden and Chelsy West of Aubrey, Texas, two great granddaughters, Dannielle Doherty of Camden and Layla West of Aubrey, Texas, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Desha First Baptist Church with Bro. Troy Sharp and Bro. Jerry Hagar officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located near Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jacob Long, Ethan McBride, Matthew McBride, Dustin Smith, J. R. Baker and Brady Dockins.Honorary pallbearers are Brad Garett, Billy McBride and Robin Medlock.
