John W. Blake, age 69 of Newark died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Batesville. He was born August 18, 1940 in Louisiana to John Winfield and Mildred Hastings Blake. He worked at American Lantern in Newport for many years and was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.He was preceded in death by his parents,a daughter, Melody Blake and a grandson, Robert Smith.Survivors include two sons, Barry Blake of Charlotte and Brian Blake of Newark, one daughter, Laura Johnson of Newark, two sisters, Maxi Kageine of Pine Bluff and Dorothy Marshall of Little Rock, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Monday, March 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Danny Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery located at Newark with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be William Blake, Michael Blake, Richard Smith, Barry Blake, Brian Blake and Bradley Blake.Honorary pallbearers are Kendall Rutledge, Charlie Green and Adam Fudge.
