Hoyt Shell, age 78 of Evening Shade, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 13, 2010. He was married 56 years to Margurite L. Harvey Shell. Together, they raised two sons. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was a deacon at the Sidney Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Myrtle Tomlinson Shell, and a sister Harry Jean Shell Hanley.Hoyt served his country in the Korean conflict, graduated from Arkansas Teacher's College to become a teacher, coach and later the superintendent of Evening Shade Schools. He retired from Arkansas Social Services. He enjoyed sports and the outdoors; was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.He leaves his beloved family, a circle of friends, church and community. His family includes his wife, Margurite Shell, two sons, four grandchildren and one great grandchild: Gary Don Shell and wife Carrie of Evening Shade, their three grown children: Joel Shell and wife Jenny of Jonesboro, Hollie Shell of Jonesboro, Jeffrey Shell and wife Brandy, and their son Hayden Taz of Powhatan; Patrick Glen Shell and wife Maria of Harrison, and daughter Kelly Shell of Melbourne; a brother Rev. Frank Shell of Batesville; a sister, Sue Chrisco of Sage; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will begin Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sidney Baptist Church located at Sidney with Bro. Alvin Wiles and Bro. Joe Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Caney Springs Cemetery located at Zion with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Franky Sharp, Clint Bailey, Teddy Green, Wendell Turner, Archie Westmoreland, Joe Stidman and Bob Miller.
