William Girtman Lewis age 80 of Cave City died Friday May 28, 2010 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born August 28, 1929 at the Hilltop Community near Cave City to John William and Celia Frances Girtman Lewis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired Rural Letter Carrier with 37 years of service, a member of the Cave City Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years, a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and served on the Cave City Water Commission for several years. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Marvin Lewis, Oras Lewis and Robert Lewis and a granddaughter, Beth Simpson.Survivors include his wife, Colene Scott Lewis of the home; two daughters, Gina Myers and husband Roger of Cave City, Tina Simpson and husband Dewayne of Cave City; one brother, Captola Lewis of Plato, Missouri; one sister, Juanita Bohr of Cherryvale, Kansas; four grandchildren, Typhanie Franke and husband Gavin of Cave City, Megan Martin and husband Trent of Mountain View, Robby Myers and Laura Simpson both of Jonesboro; three great grandchildren, Alli Shands and Abri Franke both of Cave City and Micah Martin of Mountain View, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Monday May 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard and Trent Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Sunday May 30, 2010 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.Pallbearers will be Lee Lewis, David Lewis, Larry Lewis, Gavin Franke, Robby Myers and Bill Lewis.Honorary pallbearers are Tom Foley, Doyne Brogdon, Willis Green, Richard Cruthis, Grayden Milligan, Dale Taylor, Members of the Auditorium Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and the nursing staff in the Progressive Care Unit at White River Medical Center.
