Silas Lucas Sr. age 83 of Sidney died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Cave City. He was born November 30, 1926 at Walters, Oklahoma to Henry Freeland and Martha May Lucas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII having served as a B-25 tailgunner. He was stationed in England and flew many missions over Germany. He received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was a retired auto mechanic and Pentecostal minister and a member of the Cave City Church of God.He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Billie Lucas and Maudine Wilson Lucas; one son, Silas Charles Lucas Jr.; two brothers, Paul Lucas and Glen Lucas and one sister; Mary McCutcheon.Survivors include two sons, Marvin Lucas and Carl Lucas both of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Leister of Madison, Maine; four step-sons, Larry Wilson and James Wilson both of Sidney and Troy Wilson Sr. and Dr. Michael Wilson both of Batesville; one step-daughter, Renee Walker of Newburgh, Indiana; one brother, David Lucas; three sisters, Ruth Davenport of Temple, Oklahoma, Ester Buffington of Walters, Oklahoma and Rebecca Swindle of Ohio; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Cave City with Bro. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Sidney with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will be Friday, June 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Travis Wilson, Troy Wilson Jr., James Larry Davis, Casey Turner, Nathan Edwards Jr. and Roger Coles.Honorary pallbearers are Larry Wilson, Troy Wilson Sr., James Wilson and Dr. Michael Wilson.
