William Owen Powell

William Owen 'W.O.' Powell, age 72 of Cave City died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home. He was born November 29, 1937 to Auden Lea and Esther Thelma Carpenter Powell at the Powell's Chapel Community near Poughkeepsie. He retired from Safeway Grocery in Wichita, Kansas, enjoyed working on cars and reading. He was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Tammy Kershner and Serepta Powell, two brothers, Lotis Dean Powell and A. L. Powell and one sister Eudene Parrott.Survivors include one son, Glen O. Powell of Wichita, Kansas and two daughters, Barbara 'Bobbie' Williams of Wichita, Kansas and Terry Tibbets of Courtland, Kansas, one brother, Tony Powell of Batesville, four sisters, Ruth Rout of Mount Pleasant, Patsy Powell of Wichita, Kansas, Mary Weber of Texas and Donna Moody of Georgia, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.A memorial service will be held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell's Chapel Cemetery located near Poughkeepsie with Bro. Robert Hutchison officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.No visitation is planned.
