Billy Joe Rogers, age 61 of Pocahontas, formerly of Cave City, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in a Poplar Bluff hospital. He was born September 30, 1948 at Cave City, Arkansas, to Herbert Conley and Ruby Audrey Boles Rogers. He was a disabled U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a Sergeant with the 2nd Company 16th Infantry Rangers 'Big Red One' in Vietnam from 1969-1970. He was decorated 6 times in combat including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, B.J. Rogers; two brothers, Darrell Rogers and Harold Rogers; one sister, Mary Lou Wren and one nephew, Billy Wayne Bramlett.Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rogers of the home; one son, Aaron W. Rogers of Conway; two sisters, Pearl Davis and Audrey Hatfield both of Cave City; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Kendall Weaver and Bro. J.L. Weaver officiating. A eulogy will be given by his son, Aaron W. Rogers. Burial will follow in the Cave Creek Cemetery located north of Batesville. Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Friday, July 16, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Conley Hatfield, Rickey Bramlett, Randy Morrison, Dennis Rogers, Marty Rogers, Jimmy Dean Rogers, Russell Rogers and Eddie Rogers.
