Clinton Johns

d. July 18, 2010

On July 18, 2010, Clinton 'Johnny' Calvin Johns was called home to be with the Lord. Clinton Johns was born in Point Cedar, Arkansas on November 14, 1923. He was the oldest of four siblings, Freda, Lavada, Myrtle and Norman, born to Elmer and Callie Johns. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate. After the war he met and married his first wife, Josie Marlin, to whom he was married for over 50 years. He worked for Van Camp Tuna where he started as a welder's assistant, worked his way up through the company and retired after 45 years as a design and development superintendent. He won many awards at the company for his unique and innovative designs. He loved playing the guitar and singing and had a wonderful sense of humor. He also had a 'green thumb' and thoroughly enjoyed working in his garden. But more than anything else, he loved his family: his wife of the past eight years, Dell, his daughter, Shirley and his son, Dennis. Clinton joined the Masons and later became a past patron of the Eastern Star. He was a man of loving gentleness and was a brother and friend to all. But the greatest blessing of all in his later years was that he gave his life to the Lord. He truly received a relationship with Jesus. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Josie Marlin Johns and sister, Myrtle Johns. Clinton Johns is survived by his wife, Oma Dell Johns of the home; daughter, Shirley Johns of San Diego, California; son and daughter in law, Dennis and Peggy Johns of Yorba Linda, California; grandchildren, Adam Johns of Anaheim, California, and Everett Johns of Corona, California; great grand children, Ravyn Johns and Xan Johns of Anaheim, California, Jacob Johns and Julianne Johns of Corona, California; and siblings Freda Stevens and husband, Floyd of Torrance, California, Lavada Hardman of Myrtle Point, Oregon, and Norman Johns and wife, Evelyn of Lakewood, California.
