Walter McHatton, age 77 of Cave City, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Cave City. He was born March 13, 1933 at Lake City, Arkansas to Homer Allen McHatton and Cleaty Helen McHatton Howell. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Roy McHatton; one brother, Wesley McHatton; one sister, Monica Kifer and one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Goodman.Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Ring McHatton of the home; one son and daughter in law, Clifford and Carolyn Welcher of Cave City; one daughter and son in law, Donna and Wayne Goodman of Cave City; one brother, Douglas McHatton of Auburn, Kansas; four sisters, Vivian Kifer of Shawnee, Kansas, Margarett Towers of Heber Springs, Billie Jean Colangelo of Olathe, Kansas, and Kathy Davies of Basehor, Kansas; six grandchildren, Mimi Goodman, Stacey McBride, Carla LeBlanc, Clifford Allen Welcher, Amanda Webb, and Jeff Welcher; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral service will be Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard and Bro. Wayne Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Evening Shade Cemetery located at Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers are Jeff Welcher, Clifford Allen Welcher, Doug Webb, Kaleb Homer, David Schwartz, and Ricky Gibson.Honorary pallbearers are member of the Adult Sunday School Class at First Missionary Baptist Church.
