James Randal 'Randy' Hodges, age 57 of Cave City died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock. He was born December 13, 1953 at Memphis, Tennessee to James A. and Mary Tant Hodges. Randy attended Rangely College in Rangely, Colorado on a two year basketball scholarship where he received his Associates Degree. He went on to Rhodes College to play basketball on scholarship. He moved to Cave City to work as the manager of the Edmondson Beefmaster Ranch. He worked for Kallsnick Inc. in Batesville for seventeen years driving on a milk route. He became a managing partner of the Cave City Sonic where he worked for the last ten years.He was very active in his community and church. He was a long time member of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City. He spent several years teaching Sunday School and leading the Children's Church services. He was a huge supporter of the Cave City School district. He served as a Master School Board member for fifteen years and also was active in the Booster Club as a coach.His community service included serving as a board member for the Cave City Nursing home and Sharp County Library.Randy was a loving husband and father. He lived everyday as a witness for the Lord. He was always a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He loved spending time on his farm with his two sons, working with animals, even though it seemed he spent every second at his beloved Sonic. He loved spending time with family and loved ones and would hold a conversation with anyone who would lend an ear. With his full-of-life personality and his giving heart he touched the lives of many. Even though Randy is now with the Lord, he will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.He preceded in death by father, James 'Jimmy' Hodges and his mother Mary Hodges Wright, his grandparents, Everett and Melissa Hodges and Hughey and Ida Tant, his paternal uncles, Dick Hodges and Everett 'Sonny' Hodges and several aunts and uncles on his maternal side. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kathy Weaver Hodges of the home, two sons and Jimmy Hodges and wife Lindsey of Cave City and Jon Hodges of Cave City, brother Ron Hodges and wife Pat of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, one sister Rhonda Austin and Mike Riesselman of Bolivar, Tennessee father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Betty Weaver of Cave City, sister-in-law, Tammy Lawrence of Batesville, brother-in-law Ronald Weaver and wife Debbie of Cave City, nephews and nieces, Jeremy Porter and wife Joedi of Batesville, Danell Ragsdell and Blair Weaver both of Cave City, Seth Kolka and wife Jenny, Aly and husband J. D. Vaught, Grant Kolka and Cole Hodges all of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Scarlett Riesselman and Beau Austin and Serina of Memphis, Tennessee and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church located north of Cave City with Bro. Boyce Johnson and Bro. Grayden Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery located at Sidney with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will begin Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church.Pallbearers will be Beau Austin, Mike Riesselman , Grant Kolka, Seth Kolka, Ronald Weaver, Jeremy Porter, Chuck Fraizer, Steve Dreher.Honorary pallbearers are Rick Davis and the Cave City Sonic family.
