R. V. Roach, age 77 of Evening Shade died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Viola. He was born June 15, 1933 at Decatur, Alabama to Harvey and Annie Roach. He was a lifelong farmer and drove his first mule team when he was 7 years old and has been known as 'Boss' ever since.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Opal Mae Roach, son, Jerry Lynn Roach, brothers, Robert Roach, R. C. Roach, Bill Roach, Fred Roach, John Roach and Marvin Roach and sister, Ida Mae Tillman.Survivors include four sons, James Roach of Portia, Randy Roach of Viola, Ricky Roach of Springfield, Illinois and Anthony Roach of Viola, two daughters, Joyce M. Roach of Florence, Arizona and Shirley D. Carpenter of Poughkeepsie, three brothers, Danny Roy Perry of Alabama, Pete Perry of Detroit and Harvey 'Buddy' Roach of Harrisburg, nine sisters, Goldie Thacker of Detroit, Rosie Scott of Harrisburg, Aline Johnson of Strawberry, Lorine Little of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bonnie Smith of Strawberry, Brenda Faye Perry of Mississippi, Marie Firm of Horatio, Arkansas, Sheila Roach of Idaho and Helen Priddy of Harrisburg, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Tony Stuntz officiating with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. until service time. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.No graveside services are planned.Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Roach Daniel Roach, Brian Roach, Casey Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Michael Carpenter and Joseph Carpenter.
