Irene Whitener

Irene Whitener, age 91 of Floral died Friday, April 15, 2011 at a Batesville nursing home. She was born January 9, 1920 at Floral, Arkansas to Charles and Hester Sample. She was a homemaker, enjoyed her family and quilting. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Floral.She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, David Whitener, five brothers and three sisters.Survivors include her husband, Howard Whitener of the home, three sons, Charles Whitener of Newark, Raymond Whitener of Bridgeport, Texas and Caroll Whitener of Pleasant Plains, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Don Cross officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery located at Floral with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will begin Sunday, April 17, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Glenn Whitener, Ricky Whitener, Jonny Whitener, Bobby Whitener, Derick Whitener and Jerry Smith.
