Lydia Duncan Hutchison, age 95 of Evening Shade, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born April 21, 1916 in Desha, Arkansas, the daughter of James Clark and Leonora Bridgman Duncan. After working as a secretary for a number of years, she attended Baylor University, graduated with two degrees and served as a teacher for twenty-two years in Waco, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cherokee Village, Arkansas.Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Hutchison Marsh of Evening Shade; four grandchildren, Mark J. Marsh II of Batesville, Arkansas, Malina Reynolds of Portland, Oregon, Aaron Hutchison and Stefan Hutchison both of New Orleans, Louisiana; two great grandchildren, Brittany Brooks of Batesville, Arkansas and Taylor Johnson of Evening Shade, Arkansas.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jasper Harold Hutchison Sr.; her son, Jasper Harold Hutchison Jr.; three sisters, June Keeth, August Ball and Katherine Claxton; and one brother, James Harold Duncan.A memorial service will be held Friday, June 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City, Arkansas with Rev. Bobby Sanders officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lydia Duncan Hutchison Scholarship fund. Mail to FNBC c/o Claudia Marsh, P.O. Box 8, Ash Flat, AR 72513. An endowed scholarship for teachers is being set up at Baylor University.
