James Orville Goforth, age 76 of Denmark died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at his home. He was born January 31, 1935 at Pfeiffer, Arkansas to Elver L. and Maggie Roberts Goforth. He retired from the U. S. Army after 24 years and 3 months service, was a carpenter and enjoyed his family and living life. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Pleasant Plains and was a member of the Poplar Springs Church of God in Richmond, Virginia.He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lanty Goforth.Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Wanda Goforth of the home, son Robert Goforth of Richmond, Virginia, daughter, C. Michelle Hines-Hughes of Jacksonville, two brothers, Bill Goforth of Cave City and Zeb Goforth of Batesville, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Weavers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church located north of Batesville with Bro. Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Weavers Chapel Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be the U.S. Army Honor Guard.Honorary pallbearers are Charles Lee Goforth and Billy Dean Goforth.
