George 'Al' Elvin Swope, age 92 of Pleasant Plains died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at a Batesville hospital. He was born September 18, 1918 at Cedar Falls, Iowa to John F. and Lucile Badger Swope. He served in the U. S. Army, retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Department of the Interior in Arizona where he was supervising maintenance foreman and later worked as a maintenance foreman for White Rodgers in Batesville. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Batesville.He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Swope and one son, Larry David Swope.Survivors include his son, Randall Ray Swope of Pleasant Plains and one brother Roland Swope of Sacramento, California and many other relatives and friends.Graveside services will be Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery located in Pleasant Plains.
