Esther May Stroud, age 87 of Sandtown died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at a Batesville hospital. She was born February 26, 1924 at Gid, Arkansas to Herman and Frances Warnett Lewis. She was a homemaker and babysitter, enjoyed sewing and gardening and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cave City.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Stroud and two brothers, Everett Lewis and Elvie Lewis.Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Stroud, Vernetta Morris and husband Jeff, and Vernece Brown and husband Roger all of Sandtown, four grandsons, Jeremy Conyers and wife Charlee of Sandtown, Jason Morris and wife Amy of Naylor, Missouri, Brett Morris of Sandtown, Trent Bradley and wife Brittany of Sandtown, three granddaughters, Sharonda Gardner and husband Steven of Newark, Tonya Marlow and husband John of Cave City and Kerrie Sullivan and husband Jeremy of Jonesboro, great grandchildren, Brayden Wilson, Macey Wilson, Madyson Gardner, Corwin Morris, Carson Stevenson, Owen Morris and Jack Sullivan, brothers, Earnie Lewis of Wenatchee, Washington, Wayne Lewis and wife Grace Lewis of Bell Plains, Kansas, Hoover Lewis and wife Willajean of Jonesboro, Glen Lewis and wife Pat of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sister, Edith Crabtree and husband James of Pasadena, Texas, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Friday, September 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cave City with Jeff Holland and Jeremy Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee's Chapel Cemetery located at Sandtown with Bill Sagely officiating at graveside and prayer by Orville Berg. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Church.Pallbearers will be Bob Tyson, Dustin Moody, Terence Carter, Donnie Presser, Brian Carter and Jody Presser.Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, Dr. Ron Bates, John Ables and Terry Bradley.
