Arthur G. Cushman Jr., age 87 of Evening Shade died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at a Batesville hospital. He was born August 26, 1924 at Woodstock, Ohio to Arthur Garfield Cushman Sr. and Mary Ellen Blake Cushman. He was a U. S. Army World War II veteran where he served as a paratrooper, co-owner/operator of Springfield Sand and Gravel in Springfield, Ohio, a cattle farmer and worked at Arkansas Eastman as a certified pipe welder.He was a preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Robert Cushman, William Cushman, Charles Cushman and John Cushman and three sisters Julia Orahood, Josephine Claar and Elsie Bowerman.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Clara Marie Cushman of the home, one daughter, Joyce Ann Thomas of Evening Shade, three sons, Scott Robert Cushman of Evening Shade, George Warren Cushman of Bethesda and Douglas Arthur Cushman of San Diego, California, two sisters Bertha Karrer of Dublin, Ohio and Verna Bergandine of Sunbury, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.A visitation will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.No funeral services are planned.
