Erma Kauffman

Erma (Yutzy, Byler) Kauffman age 76 of Strawberry, Arkansas died Sunday October 9, 2011 at her home. She was born November 18, 1934 in Plain City, Ohio to Homer and Ada Viola (Frey) Yutzy. On September 20, 1956 she was married to Elmer A. Byler in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. To this union were born two children. They were married over 40 years. Elmer left this life on August 12, 1996. On August 31, 2002, Erma married for a second time to Curtis Joseph Kauffman. She was a faithful member of the Strawberry Mennonite Church. She made it a habit of attending church when at all possible. Her generous giving blessed those who came in contact with her.Survivors include her husband, Curtis Joseph Kauffman of the home; one son, Merlin Elmer Byler of Jaratt, Virginia; one daughter, Carolyn Erma Jones and husband Floyd of Strawberry; nine grandchildren, Natasha Byler of Virginia, Loren Jones, Leon Jones, Timothy Jones, Paul Jones, Jolene Jones, Susanna Jones and Katrina Jones all of Strawberry, Louise Yoder and husband Anthony of Halsey, Oregon; one brother, Milo Yutzy of Linneus, Missouri; two sisters, Edna Gingerich and husband David of Linneus, Missouri and Arlene Schlabach and husband Stanley of Monticello, Kentucky; twenty five nieces and nephews; two step-sons, Marlin Kauffman and wife Cindy of LaCombe, Oregon and James Kauffman of Buffalo, Missouri two step-daughters, Donna Kropf and husband Earl and Ila Hostetler and husband Mervin all of Brownsville, Oregon; fifteen step- grandchildren and twenty-one step-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ada Viola (Frey) Yutzy; husband, Elmer Byler; one brother, Ivan Yutzy; four sisters, Laura Miller, Verna Miller, Leah Byler and Bernice Yutzy; one step-daughter, Maxine Kauffman and two step- great grandsons.Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 12, 2011 at 10:00 a. m. at the Strawberry Mennonite Church in Strawberry, Arkansas. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 11, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Strawberry Mennonite Church.A second funeral service will be held Friday October 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Locust Creek Mennonite Church in Brookfield, Missouri. Burial will follow in the Locust Creek Cemetery at Brookfield, Missouri.Visitation will be held Thursday October 13, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Locust Creek Mennonite Church.Pallbearers will be Loren Jones, Leon Jones, Tim Jones, Paul Jones, Wilmer Yutzy and Conrad Miller.Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Arkansas.
