Allen Albert Shaver

Allen Albert Shaver age 84 of Batesville passed away Sunday October 30, 2011 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born February 28, 1927 at Evening Shade, Arkansas to Allen M. and Lorena Baker Shaver. He was a graduate of Evening Shade High School and the University of Arkansas with a degree in agriculture. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Evening Shade Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and an avid Razorback fan.His professional career was in sales, first with the Carnation Company in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He was a sales representative for Norwich Pharmaceutical Company and when the company was acquired, he continued with Proctor and Gamble. His employment took him to Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Texas, to Ann Arbor, Michigan and Birmingham, Alabama. He and his wife Bettye Ann Qualls Sharp Shaver retired in Sherwood, Arkansas.In retirement Allen served as a Wal-Mart greeter. He coordinated Meals-On-Wheels deliveries in Little Rock. In Batesville he volunteered with the White River Medical Center Auxiliary, Help and Hope and was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bettye Shaver, a sister Roberta Shaver and a brother, Carl Shaver.Survivors include a son Jamie Shaver and his wife Carrie of Camarillo, California and two granddaughters; three step-children, Sonja Finley and her husband Dale, David Sharp and his wife Teresa all of Melbourne and Mike Sharp and his wife Cathy of Evening Shade; a brother, Roy Shaver and his wife Ann of Neosho, Missouri; three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.Funeral services will begin Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Paul Seay of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery located at Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time.Pallbearers will be Greg Shaver, Paul Shaver, Andrew Sharp, Kermit Blevins, Dale Finley, William Herrington and Shelby Baxter.Honorary pallbearers are the United Methodist Men's Group at Central Avenue United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Central Avenue United Methodist Church, 1205 N.
