William Arthur Jones Jr.

William 'Bill' Arthur Jones Jr., a cherished husband, a loving father, grandfather and loyal friend, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011, after a full and joyous life. Bill was born October 9, 1926, in Batesville, Arkansas, the son of William Arthur Jones Sr. and Opal McClure Lucket Jones. Bill served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army. After the war, he returned to begin his education at College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, with a pharmacist degree. Bill was married to Bettye Jean Crow in 1948. Bill returned to Batesville and followed in his father's footsteps by taking over the family's pharmacy business (City Drug Store). He ran the business until he was 70 years old. Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a devoted husband and family man. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Survivors include a wife, Bettye of the home; three children, James (Jim) Jones and wife Sandra of Denison, Texas, Charles (Chuck) Jones and Brenda Jones, both of Batesville; three grandchildren, Erik Jones of Denison, Texas, Jon Jones and fiancee' Erin Helwick of Batesville, and Tara Nelson of Jonesboro; and five great-grandchildren, Bryson Nelson, Emilee and Tyler Jones, Kenlee and Morgan Cantrell.Pallbearers will be Jon Jones, Erik Jones, Josh Blevins, Jeff Perry, Douglas Matthews and Larry Whipple.Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Robert Lowrey and Rev. Leslie Roper officiating.
