Larry Eugene Nelson

Larry Eugene Nelson, age 55 of Batesville died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born February 10, 1956 at Newport, Arkansas to Lowell Eugene and Mary Lynn Hamilton Gray. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching Razorback ballgames, Justice of the Peace for District 7 and a member of the Quorum Court. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Batesville and former board member.He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister Jeannie Lynn Gray.Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Barbara Roe Nelson of the home, one son Joshua Nelson and wife Tara of Jonesboro, two stepsons, Rickey Gardner and wife Stephanie of Bono and Jonathon Stuart and wife Samantha of Batesville, daughter, Faith Lucas of the home, step daughter, Veronica Cook of Missouri, step mother, Louise Gray of Batesville, one sister Sharon McClellan and husband David of Newport, one step sister, Linda Hubbard of Southside, six grandchildren, Bryson Nelson of Jonesboro, Liam Suart of Batesville, Eli Cook of Missouri, Ty Gardner, Mazey Gardner and Mya Gardner all of Bono, one nephew, Brian McClellan of Jonesboro and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Monday, December 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Batesville with a visitation from 12:00 noon until service time at the Church. Pastor Tim Brown and Pastor Norman Clayton will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Milligan Campground Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Honorary pallbearers are the Independence County Quorum Court, Mayor Rick Elumbaugh, Robert Griffin and Sheriff Steve Jeffery.
