James W. Stone, age 82 of Newark died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born February 2, 1929 at Paroquet, Arkansas to Ross and Maudie McGee Stone. He retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of the Holiness Church of God in Magness. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Margaret Goodman, Ernestine Huff and Mary Polly Bryce.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Marie Stone of the home, two sons, Tommy Stone and Tony Stone both of Newark, two daughters, Cathy Biggers of Newark, Diane Flanigan of Houston, Texas, three brothers, Hershel Stone of Newark, Ray Stone of Batesville and Charlie Claude Stone of California, one sister, Maudie Mae Williams of Newark, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. Jeff Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery located at Charlotte with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Christopher Cuddeback, Samuel Stone, Megan Hutchison, Rodney Lindsey, Jeron McDoniel and John McDoniel.Honorary pallbearers are Brian Biggers, Jerry Murdock, Bil Lindsey and Jimmy Lindsey.
